Verse of the Week
Happy those whose way is blameless, who walk by the teaching of the Lord. Psalm 119:1
Annual Lenten Pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception - March 14
The Men's Ministry Pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington is on Saturday, March 14.
The Lenten Pilgrimage includes a tour of the largest Catholic basilica in the United States, opportunity for Confession, a private Mass in the Slovakian Chapel celebrated by Fr. Stefan, Stations of the Cross, and lunch at an Irish Pub.
Due to certain traffic disruptions, we will be able to offer a penance of an extra 1/2 hour by planning to leave at 6 am instead of 6:30. This will not effect our return trip and we get the added bonus of spending an extra 30 minutes together. We are trying to ensure we arrive at the Shrine for breakfast at 8:30.
Our optional "side trip" this year between Mass and Stations of the Cross will be a short walk to the Dominican House of Studies for their midday prayer and Rosary at Noon. It is reputed to be a beautiful chapel. http://www.dhs.edu/
Father Stefan will be available for Confessions between our tour and Mass. Confessions and Mass will be in the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, patroness of Slovakia.
As in years past, we plan to adjourn to an Irish Pub for lunch before returning to Richmond.
Looking forward to seeing everybody at 6 am on Saturday. Bring a friend! I think Charlie G. and Tony Bell have volunteered to drive again, which is much appreciated.
If you want to go, please contact Mike Kozak at ckoz654@aol.com
