Overview

On Saturday, March 17, 2018 men from across the diocese will gather at Saint Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg for the 6th Annual Diocesan Catholic Men’s Conference. This year’s theme, “Truly Present,” will explore Jesus’ presence to us and our call to be present in all our relationships in the world as husband, father, brother, and friend. Hans Urs Von Balthasar, a Swiss theologian from the 20th century, writes, “If you live near a waterfall, after a week, you’ll no longer hear its rumble. In the same way, we have forgotten how to listen” how to be truly present, both to God and to each other (Heart of the World).

This year will feature a dual-track conference with keynote speakers in English and Spanish, breakout opportunities, Reconciliation, Adoration, and Mass. Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers will be the keynote speaker for the English-speaking track.

Registration Cost

The $40 early-bird admission cost is available until February 1, 2018. Additionally, all permanent deacons who register by that time will receive $10 off their registration. After February 1, 2018 general registration will be available online for $55 until March 10, 2018. After that point, registration will only be available at the door for $60. As always, the conference is free for priests and religious brothers.

March for Life 2018/ Respect Life Holy Hour @ St. Bridget

Hello Again,

Please see below. Sending out one more time since I hadn’t heard yet from all “the regulars.”  It’s not too late to sign up. No need to respond if you’ve already signed up for 2018.

Love Saves Lives is the theme of this year’s March.

In all events, please attend the Respect Life Holy Hour at St. Bridget on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 6:30 pm.

Happy New Year!

Mike K.

Greetings All,

It's time for me to continue putting the list together for the March for Life on Friday, January 19, 2018. If I already have you signed up for 2018 no need to respond, but I did want to touch base with my mailing list.  Please let me know if you would like a spot(s) reserved on the free bus transportation being provided by the K of C and the Richmond Diocese (ckoz654@aol.com)  We will follow the routine of past years as far as departure time, etc. (meeting at 7:45 a.m. for an 8 a.m. departure from the Pump Rd. location, travel to the Pastoral Center to meet with the Southside bus, and depart DC at 4-4:30 p.m.).  Darius, please let me know if you anticipate any substantive changes.  When signing up, please provide a mobile phone number.

Please pass this information along to friends, parish groups, etc.  Please try to sign-up early, last year we had a waiting list and had to scramble to get people on other buses.

Also, a Respect Life Holy Hour has been scheduled for January 16, 2018, @ 6:30 p.m. at St. Bridget Church.   The Holy Hour will be intended as a vigil of sorts for the March for Life and will include Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.  Please make every effort to join the Church in prayer for the success of our pro-life efforts.

Thanks and a Blessed Advent to you all.

Mike K
