Shrine Pilgrimage/Diocesan Men’s Conference

Email from Mike:

Gents,

In order to avoid detracting from the Diocesan Men’s Conference, being held at St. Bede on Saturday, March 21, and to allow those wanting to attend that event, our Men’s Ministry Lenten Pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is now scheduled for March 28.  As before, all parts of the Pilgrimage are of course optional and we frequently have small groups and individuals going in different directions a la carte. Unfortunately, due to availability and timing, we will not be able to dine as a group at the Irish Pub...so, sorry. Below is a tentative itinerary, with the various options, with links also below:

6:20 a.m.  Gather at front of St. Bridget

6:30 a.m.  Departure

8:30 a.m.   Arrival at Shrine Cafeteria. Coffee, etc. as needed

9:00 a.m.  Guided Tour of The Shrine

10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.  Guided Tour of the Franciscan Monastery, with Holy Land and Catacomb Replicas
( those going on this tour should leave the Shrine at 9:45 or so to make the very short drive over to the Franciscan Monastery)

10:00 a.m.—12:00 Noon  Private Time for prayer, visits to bookstore/gift shop (also available at Monastery) and/ or Confession. Confessions are available at both the Shrine and the Monastery and we are hoping Father Tochi will be able to hear confessions as well.

Also, the Shrine of Saint Pope John Paul II is about a 1 minute drive from the Shrine. Those wishing to visit can do so during this time period.

12 Noon. Suggested lunch time. Shrine Cafeteria, Catholic University of America dining options  (on-campus or bordering retail area)

Approximately 1:00p.m.  Stations of the Cross in the Crypt Church (lower level of the Shrine immediately following the 12:10 Mass)

2:00 p.m.  Private Mass in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel (lower level of The Shrine)
Celebrant is Father Tochi. Deacons attending can assist I’m sure.

Regroup in Cafeteria area following Mass for immediate departure back to St. Bridget.

Please let me know by replying to ckoz654@aol.com if you plan to go on the Pilgrimage and if you would be willing to drive if necessary. If a possible driver, also include how many your vehicle can comfortably fit.

Thanks and best wishes for a fruitful Lent!

Shrine Pilgrimage

Email from Mike:

Gents,

We need to be flexible on the Shrine trip this year. Currently, it is set for March 21, with Father Tochi coming with us. However, we learned later that the Diocesan Men’s Conference was also scheduled for that date at St. Bede’s in Williamsburg. I’m waiting for Fr. Tochi to return from Nigeria to see if our trip needs to be moved to March 28 so he can attend the Conference and whether he would be able to go on the pilgrimage if it’s moved to the 28th. Please stay tuned.  In the meantime, please let me know ( if you haven’t already) how many of you are planning to attend the Men’s Conference on March 21.

Gary Liput Funeral Arrangements

Email from Sam Liput:

To all,

An obituary for my dad Gary has been posted at http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/virginia-cremate/obituary.aspx?n=Gary-Liput&lc=5083&pid=194878817&mid=8980065&locale=en_US. It mentions that the funeral will be held at St. Bridget at 11 AM on Friday, January 24. At this time, there will not be a viewing or memorial separate from the funeral, and burial will be private.

My mom and I would like to ask for volunteers to help with the service, specifically one lector, one or two pallbearers (since this will be after the cremation), and four to carry the gifts during the preparation of the altar. Please let us know who is willing to fill these roles so we can complete St. Bridget's funeral arrangements form.

We thank you all for your support and prayers and for being such good friends to my father. Please feel free to pass this email on to any others who could help.

God bless,

Sam Liput

The Gentlemen of Saint Bridget will lead singing for the Respect Life Holy Hour on January 21, 2020. This year’s liturgy will occur at the beginning of the regular Tuesday time of Exposition, Adoration, Benediction and Confessions.

The schedule for the Gentlemen will be:

6:30 PM               Dillon Bruce’s monthly Reflection: Gentlemen dismissed after the Liturgy (that will include music and scripture)

8:30 PM               Benediction

The Gentlemen will depart from the organ loft at the conclusion of the liturgy, which will likely occur before Dillon’s talk begins.

Attire is business casual or business.

Please consider being part of our music ministry for this important liturgy, and let me know if you can join us. [email Allen at abean@saintbridgetchurch.org]

 With prayers for God’s blessings.
