Please keep Gary in your prayers!
9/18/20 Ron C Email
Brother Knights I have news to pass on to you regarding our brother Knight Gary P. The below is a message received yesterday from his son and brother Knight John P. Please keep Gary and Annette in your prayers.
Good evening, gentleman. My dad (Gary) asked me to finally reach out to you all and update you about his status. He is currently in VCU Hospital. He was admitted on Labor Day afternoon after suffering a major heart attack while sitting on his couch at home. We are blessed that mom was with him and saw it happen and that EMS had him at VCU within 30 min of it happening! He had an urgent and life-saving catheterization and a stent was placed. He had had some complications of low BP, heart rhythm issues and mild pneumonia, along with hoarseness, shortness of breath and weakness. He could not talk on the phone due to his breathing and hoarseness, so he did not want me to reach out to you all then. I am happy to report that he has made great progress over the past 3 days. He is much less hoarse, is off oxygen, and is walking short-distances with just a little assistance. If all goes well, he will likely be discharged by Monday, but possibly even this weekend. Due to COVID restrictions, he can only have one visitor per day. I enjoyed spending last night with him! He is now looking forward to speaking with folks and mentioned your names as a good start. He is on main 10 and the direct phone # to his room is 649-5832.
Mom is coping and we are transporting her to see him and bringing her food since she does not drive. No need to call her, but her home # is 741-8666 if you want to! She could use the moral support.
We appreciate your understanding and apologize for not sharing this news sooner. Please pray for dad as he recovers. I know that he looks forward to seeing you all once again. Please feel to share this with other members of the council if you wish. I didn't want to overwhelm him right away!
Fraternally,
John

Prayer Opportunity
Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
Tomorrow (Thursday) at lunch time, 1215pm, in Libby Hill Park, a group of us will gather in Libby Hill Park circle for 15 minutes of mostly silent prayer.
Stephen Jenkins will lead off with a short prayer, and close with a short prayer. The other time will be filled with silent prayer. Street parking is available in the area, we'll gather in the circle. 2801 E Franklin St. 23223
In this time of isolation, Stephen and I felt a pull by the Holy Spirit to gather the Body of Christ together in public prayer. Due to Covid restrictions, many prayer opportunities have been limited. We will be observing all distancing protocols.
This will be a weekly occurrence, Thursday at lunch at 1215, at different outdoor locations throughout the city. We'll put the location out on Wednesday mornings. Open to all.
This is an opportunity to pray together for Peace in our community and our country, that God's will be done.
Peace, Frank
“The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service and the fruit of service is peace.” Saint Mother Teresa

Pray the Rosary @ Planned Parenthood Saturday Mornings @ 11:00
It has been brought to my attention that a contingent of St. Bridget folks have been praying the Rosary in front of the Planned Parenthood facility on Hamilton St. every Saturday morning at 11 am for the past two months. Since I don’t think the Rosary is being prayed after the 8:00 am Mass these days, this would be a good option. Please feel free to join fellow your fellow Catholics in these prayers for life!

Results of Resurrect Third Saturday Meetings Virtually Poll
Paul F said he would facilitate the meetings when he could.
Three others indicated a desire to attend, one of whom would have to leave early.
Unless there is a stronger interest, we’ll stick with just the first Saturday of the month meetings.
Resurrect Third Saturday Meetings Virtually?
Email from Mike:
I know that we all enjoyed our blacktop meeting and plan to do another one in September, which is great! However, when I read the message from Dirk, I pray that I am not being selfish. Are we being selfish? In a perfect world, it would be nice if we could somehow go back to the 1st and 3rd Saturdays, “embrace the beauty of and.” 1st in-person and 3rd virtual. I can’t commit to running the Zoom for the 3rd, but I would commit to “attending.” Do you think it is worth polling the group to see if there is any interest in resurrecting the 3rd Saturday as a virtual meeting for those brethren who are laying low? Actually, given past experience, we need commitments, not just interest, to the extent possible. We could do 8 am, since it is unlikely our virtual folks would be attending Saturday Mass. Thoughts?
Thanks!

A Message from Dirk
Thank you Leon; I will not be attending Saturday, although I love all of those at St. Bridgets! I am doing well; my eyesight is now normal after corneal transplant; however, I have been laying low because of COVID-19. A family member of my wife, in Texas, a mother of two children has COVID-19, and although she is now okay the disease is nothing to mess with, as you can imagine. You can tell everyone that I am doing well but being extra cautious. I watch the masses on You tube and try to keep in touch that way. I hope to see you and the group as soon as possible. Your friend in Jesus Christ, Dirk
