Annual Pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception - Saturday, March 5

The Men's Ministry Pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington is on Saturday, March 5.  This year we will be joined by a contingent of the Men of St. Joseph from St. Edward Church.

The Lenten Pilgrimage includes a tour of the largest Catholic basilica in the United States, opportunity for Confession, a private Mass in the Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel celebrated by Fr. Stefan, Stations of the Cross, and lunch at an Irish Pub.  Also available is an optional side trip to the nearby Dominican House of Studies, as well as opportunities for private prayer and gift shop/bookstore shopping.

In this Year of Mercy, the Holy Door of The Shrine will be open and Pope Francis has conceded a plenary indulgence to pilgrims meeting the usual conditions (all available at some point during the day).

We depart from St. B's front lot promptly at 6:30 am (offer it up as part of your Lent).  We are usually back in Richmond by 5:30-6:00 pm

2016 March for Life - Washington, DC

Date and Time:

Friday, January 22, 2016 7:30 AM-  Friday, January 22, 2016 6:00 PM

Description:

March for Life 2016 - Washington, DC.

Join fellow St. Bridget parishioners at the 2016 March for Life in Washington, D.C. on January 22nd, the anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade decision.  The theme for the March this year is Pro-Life and Pro-Woman Go Hand-In-Hand.  The day has been designated as a National Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children.  If you have never been, you need to go!  It is the largest gathering of Pro-Life supporters in the world!  You will be overwhelmed by the number of youth in attendance and marching for the protection of the unborn!

Bus transportation again will be generously provided by the Knights of Columbus.  Come to the Columbian Center at 2324 Pump Road by 7:45 a.m. on the 22nd.  We will board buses and proceed to the Richmond Diocesan Center to receive Bishop DiLorenzo’s blessing for the March.  The buses will return to the Columbian Center about 6:00 p.m.  Please dress appropriately for outdoor weather, and bring your own lunch for the day.  To reserve a seat on the bus, contact Mike Kozak at ckoz654@aol.com.  Please join our efforts to save the 1.2 million unborn children who lose their lives to abortion each year in the U.S.

Respect Life Holy Hour - Tuesday, January 19

There will be a Respect Life Holy Hour at St. Bridget's Church on Tuesday evening, January 19, at 6:00 p.m.  The Holy Hour is intended as a vigil for the March for Life (which takes place on Friday, January 22nd in Washington, D.C.).  The Holy Hour will include Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction, and accompanied with song by the Gentlemen of St. Bridget.  Please make every effort to join the Church in prayer for the success of our pro-life efforts.   Contact Mike Kozak at ckoz654@aol.com for more information.

Catholic Men's Conference - Saturday, January 16

From John McCulla:

Could you pass this on to our SBMM members?  This is a nice day of faith and fellowship with men of faith from across the Diocese.  Included below is interesting information on the pre-conference as well.

CATHOLIC MEN’S CONFERENCE

Saturday, January 16, 2016
Greater Richmond Convention Center

The 4th Annual Catholic Men’s Conference: “Lions to Lambs” is coming up. The featured keynote speakers this year are Mark Hart and Father Dan Beeman. All men 18 and over can register now through midnight on January 12, 2015 for just $45. Registration after that time will only be accepted at the door for $55. The conference is free for all priests and religious brothers. Permanent Deacons who register before midnight on January 12, 2016 will receive admission to the conference for only $30. Register today!

New this year! On Friday night before the conference we are hosting an informal roundtable discussion to explore ways and best practices for establishing and sustaining solid men's ministry in the parish. This pre-conference event includes a bourbon tasting and heavy hors d'oeuvres. It will be held at the Diocesan Pastoral Center on Friday, January 15 from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. This is a great opportunity for men in leadership roles from parishes around the diocese to exchange ideas about how to build solid men's ministry in a parish. The cost is only $10 per person to help cover the food and drinks. Space is limited to 70 participants, so reserve your spot today when you register for the main event. For your convenience, there is a block of hotel rooms available near the Pastoral Center at a discounted rate to accommodate any out-of-town attendees. Register for the pre-conference when you register for the main event today!

Best,

John

Note: The conference is listed on the events page of this website.
