From Wayne:
Greetings Gentlemen. Thank you for those who were able to sing for the seniors earlier this month!
As has been our tradition, we will again lead the congregation in spiritual and patriotic song. This is our special gift, to sing in a place and in a way which touches so many of us most deeply. I sincerely hope you will join us as we sing and celebrate at this special liturgy for our nation's anniversary celebration of its Declaration of Independence! Allen's fine organ presentation will be joined with accompaniment from a brass section. While I am uncertain of this detail, I expect our Knights will be presenting the colors as well.
If you have been able to do this before, you know just how special this hour of devotion and praise is! Please feel free also to extend this invitation to other parish men who you think may enjoy singing and serving with us in this way.
The liturgy begins at 9:00 AM. We will gather with Allen @ 8:30 for a brief warm up and rehearsal. Our dress will be as it always is for this celebration: blue blazer, gray slacks, white shirt, red tie, black shoes.
Would you please kindly reply here indicating your intentions for singing with The Gentlemen of Saint Bridget and our congregation Monday, July 4, at the 9:00 AM liturgy?
Thank you sincerely for your consideration,
Wayne
Gents –
Thank you for coming together at the Saints and Sinners Dinner this past Thursday and offering your talents and voices to entertain the group! They loved your singing, and I had many comments that they thought this the best dinner we’ve had yet!
You are a blessing to the parish and to our seniors!
Best,
John
Gentlemen of St. Bridget Church,
We have a quorum for our choir tomorrow, but there is always room for more! The more voices the merrier!
Please consider coming and joining us as we entertain the Saints and Sinners!
And, the dinner and beer ought to be fine!
Can you join us?
Best,
John
The Center for Marriage, Family, and Life is gearing up for the 5th Annual Catholic Men's Conference in the Diocese of Richmond. Registration is now open! You can click here to learn more or to register.
All men 18 and older are invited to attend this one-day conference as an opportunity to dig deeper into the faith, meet other Catholic men, and take home some practical guidance for living a holy life as father, brother, son, and friend.
Theme
The conference theme, "Fully Alive," plays on Jesus' invitation throughout the Gospel to an abundant life.
As a man, husband, father, brother, and friend how is Jesus calling you to be more fully alive.
Above all else, our culture values the freedom to pursue our own happiness, to choose whatever lifestyle, relationship, or path we think will make us the most happy.
The invitation of Jesus is to consider this: our freedom exists so that we can give ourselves away. The paradox of the Christian life is that when we empty ourselves, follow Jesus, and participate in His life we become fully alive.
Man desires to be fully alive: to be loved deeply, to be called to greatness, and to accomplish the unthinkable.
These desires can only be fulfilled in Christ. It is Jesus who offers eternal life. It is Jesus who defines perfection. It is Jesus who is Love Incarnate.
This is what prompted Saint Augustine when he said, “to fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek Him the greatest adventure; to find Him, the greatest human achievement.” As Jesus asked the young man in Matthew 19, he is asking you to become fully alive, “Come, follow me.”
Speakers
Sean Forrest began his ministry as a full-time youth minister at St. James parish in Stratford, Connecticut. In January of 2000, Sean founded Movin’ With The Spirit, Inc. Since then, he has had the opportunity to speak to hundreds of thousands of teens and adults across the country and internationally. He is a regular keynote speaker at Steubenville youth conferences across the country, and is often a headliner at the Soulfest Christian music festival in Gunstock, N.H. Sean has been challenging men at diocesan men’s conferences throughout the country to live their faith and lead others to Christ. Building on his organization’s work in the U.S., Sean has also mobilized a team to help the poor of Haiti. MWTS Haiti180 (haiti180.com) constructed and operates a lively orphanage and state-of-the-art school, and has been housing, feeding, and caring for children and villagers in desperate need of support. From Frank:
I am asking you to come to a meeting at St Bridget's this Tuesday night at 7pm and hear a presentation by a group that will help us with our evangelization efforts. Geoff Gasperini and Ann Song have been leading the charge with this group.
Link to a video of a parish currently doing this, coincidentally, named St Bridgid, in San Diego. http://www.evangelicalcatholic.org/who-we-serve/#parishes
In a nutshell, it is letting the Holy Spirit move among us through small groups engaged in Scripture study. This group will provide information on how to make it happen, and will walk alongside us as we grow this effort.
Please come and listen. Please put this out to your lists. This is the call that many of you have been listening for (I know it is for me) to deepen your own faith lives, as well as all those around us in our parish that we love and serve, and those in our community that we are called to love and serve.
Peace,
Frank

St. Bridget Men’s Ministry Men,
We have been again invited and have graciously accepted the honor to sing at the Annual Saints and Sinners Dinner on June 9th. This has become an annual tradition for us, too, and we must be doing something right to be invited back again and again!
The theme of the dinner this year is a Texas BBQ. The food and the venue will reflect this theme. Allen will be including some songs in our repertoire that also fit the theme.
Particulars: Thursday, June 9th in the Parish Commons
5:00 pm Arrive and hydrate or libate.
5:30 Practice with Allen.
6:00 Dinner is served and BBQ is on!
6:30 On with the performance!
7:00 Hang around and have some fellowship
Will you plan to come and sing? Dinner will be great (and only $10!). A nice selection of tasty libations will be on hand to help us get appropriately tuned up. Please RSVP to John if you plan to attend (jkmcculla@comcast.net). And, please bring your spouses! They will enjoy the dinner and will enjoy seeing your perform, as well!

I highly recommend Jesus Shock, by Peter Kreeft, which is available for free in the Commons. It's a thought provoking read, and a quick read as well.
