A Message from Dirk

Thank you Leon; I will not be attending Saturday, although I love all of those at St. Bridgets!  I am doing well; my eyesight is now normal after corneal transplant; however, I have been laying low because of COVID-19.  A family member of my wife, in Texas, a mother of two children has COVID-19, and although she is now okay the disease is nothing to mess with, as you can imagine.  You can tell everyone that I am doing well but being extra cautious.  I watch the masses on You tube and try to keep in touch that way.    I hope to see you and the group as soon as possible. As a result of our recent poll and Wayne’s efforts our August Saturday meeting will be IN PERSON ON THE BLACKTOP (I.E., THE BACK PARKING LOT) at St. Bridget on Saturday, August 1, at 7:00 am.

Bring your own coffee, chair, and mask, and any extras chairs you have in case others don’t have one!

CHANGE: We will continue to wear our masks during our meeting.

NOTE: We will start at 7:00 AM and finish by 7:55 AM just like the old days so guys can attend Mass at 8:00 AM

In-Person Meeting Poll Results and Next Steps

Results of our In-Person Meeting Poll:

Those favoring in-person meetings generally: 6

Those favoring in-person meetings if outside and we keep our distance 2

Those favoring in-person meetings and offer virtual for those who prefer virtual 1

Other thoughts/considerations:

Concern for those who have an underlying medical condition that makes them more vulnerable

See if we can use the pavillion at the abbey where they’ve had outside Masses

See if we can use the church hall/basement since its a big space

Conclusions

Based on the above, seems like we should try an in-person outdoor meeting for our August 1 meeting, current weather forecast: Scattered thunderstorms in the morning, then becoming mostly sunny late. High 93F

Outdoor Mass Opportunity

Gents,

Received the following and was asked to spread the word:

There will be an outdoor mass this Sunday at 11:00 at the Benedictine Abbey.  The intention is to offer access to the Eucharist to the elderly and those who have been too nervous about indoor crowds, or too put off by the elaborate procedures, to try attending the services currently available.

Bring your own chair and sit as near or far away as you want.  Bring an umbrella if the sun is too strong for you.  Communion will be brought to attendees where they are sitting.

Please spread the word to any who may be interested.  And if there is good turnout, they’ll do it again.
